The Best Time of Year for an Everglades Trip from South Beach
Whenever you visit South Beach, the Everglades are open for airboat rides. But the season and the time of day change the experience, so here’s how to fit it into your trip.
Winter and spring: the classic season
From roughly November to April, South Florida is drier and cooler, with fewer mosquitoes. It’s the busiest stretch of the year on the beach and on the water, so book your airboat tour as soon as your travel dates are set.
Summer and fall: green and dramatic
From about May to October it’s hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms that roll in fast. The sawgrass is lush and the water is high. Book a morning tour to beat the heat and the storms, and you’ll be back at the pool by lunch.
Fitting it into your trip
- Arrival day: usually too rushed. Settle in first.
- Day two or three: ideal. You’re rested and know the city.
- Sundays: we don’t run, so plan a weekday or Saturday.
Every South Beach Airboat tour includes private transportation, so the timing is simple: we pick you up at your hotel and bring you back.
